As standard the HTC HD only screen rotates when in Opera and camera. I found a small third party app that expands this across all applications. The applications is call GSEN and uses the built in accelerometer to automaticlly change screen rotation. Down it here Note that the YouTube app doesn't like it so you need to add the line #window(youtube) onto the end of the GSen CFG file (via Start>Programs) to sort out a glitch with its video playback orientation.
